"Manny Calavera of Grim Fandango. Sorry the picture's so very blurry, but this is the best from the set I took, and it now lives elsewhere.
Acrylic and spit on canvas board " |

Grim Fandango is the coolest game!!!" |

"This is a picture I did of Manny Calavera a character from one of my favourite games of all time, 'Grim Fandango'. The game was written, directed and at least partly designed by a very talented Mr. Tim Schafer. But LucasArts own it now he left the company, which is a pity because without people like Tim on board I'm certain that we will see less original titles like 'Monkey Island,' and 'Grim Fandango' coming out of LucasArts and instead be swamped with heaps and heaps of boring Star Wars games. I guess thats what makes money these days :(" |

"A Christmas card done to my friend. She wanted me to draw Nick and Olivia, because she likes GF and supports their relationship. Personally, I like the most of that frame and Nick's head, everything else is a bit screwed up... Especially Olivia's head >_<. It took about 3 to 4 hours me to finish it :P... I hope that you guys enjoy it..." |

"I drew this one night when I was really bored and just started doodling to see what would come up." |
|
"This picture shows how I've imagined Olivia and Max first met. 100% of it was
completed in photoshop. I've always pictured Olivia's character as lost, afraid and nieve
before Maximino took care of her and it wasn't until then she gained her ego and
confidence of character. I'm interested in exploring Olivia's innocent side that's
portrayed during one of her final scenes in grim fangago where she is shown secretly
looking for her double N ticket. Perhaps her relationship with Hector was all part of her
desperation to leave the Land of the Dead for the ninth under world." |

"I found this neat online tool which converts images to ascii html (basically pictures made out of coloured letters and numbers. Try it yourself here. Hours of fun to be had!
If you're having trouble seeing the picture, try going further away from your monitor, or squinting.
Select an ascii image from the list below (and if you create any GF related ones feel free to send them in):"

"It's not exactly fanart, but I went as everyone's favourite protagonist skeleoton for Halloween this year.
The mask was made out of tagboard, held together with masking tape, and decorated wtih sharpie. Also, I baught a see-through black hood, and cut out the one-way see-through part to cover up the holes I cut for the eyes, so they looked black, but I could still see through them. The cloak and the hands and scythe were bought at a Halloween store, and I just happened to have a 3-piece blue suit laying around for his clothes. I decided to make manny's mouth out of facepaint, instead of with the mask, so my mouth would move when I talk, like Manny's does in the game.
It was alot of fun to go as him =) A few people at my school even reccognized who I was."

An entry for the third fan art competition on the GFN forums. The guidelines for the picture were "Recreate a famous piece of art with a Grim Fandango twist".
"For my entry I took the Mona Lisa and made my own version. For those of you that don't know what the Mona Lisa looks like: check it out!.
This was modeled, rigged, posed and rendered pretty quickly but I kinda like the end result, I don't like her smile, though. Made in Maya, edited in Photoshop" |

An entry for the second fan art competition on the GFN forums. The guidelines for the picture were "Draw something along the lines of the theme "Grim Fandango meets Psychonauts". Either the two styles combined, or a mix of the characters, whatever." This entry won the competition!
"Hey, I'm supposed to be up, awake, and at work in four or five hours! This is the perfect thing to help me put off going to bed.
In other words, I have labored over an entry and will scan and post tomorrow." |

"It didn't really turn out how I planned it, because at the moment it looks like I just cut and pasted some stuff and applied a filter, but actually I drew it all out with the pen tool in Photoshop (which took a while). I thought I'd post it anyway though, because it took me some time." |

"Okay, here is my entry to the new challenge. I want to stress that I've never played Psychonauts and finding useful screen captures was a little difficult, so the characters don't look like themselves very much. Loboto's bottom half was made up since I didn't find any pictures about his feet." |
|
A very nicely edited mix of the characters from different parts of the game. |

A crossover between Full Throttle and Grim Fandango (both lead by Tim Schafer) |

Another entry for the first fan art competition on the GFN forums. The guidelines for the picture were "Draw something that has at least two GF characters, a toaster and a kitten in it." This entry won the competition!
"Um, ok, sorry that I was totally too lazy to color it. Or shade it. Or even fill in their eyes. 0_o
See, it was originally gonna be this cool thing, where Domino was like, all black but his face and hands, and.. stuff... but I spent most of the morning putting a loooot of effort into this Psychonauts fanart/fanmade character contest thing, and now I'm like, blaaaaa, lazy." |

"A portrait of Meche from Grim Fandango, imagining what she had looked like when she was alive. Sort of like the Domino one, save the fact I put a lot more effort in improving certain aspects concerning shading, highlights, etc.
Her clothing appears very old and faded, thanks to retarded scanner.
I’m happy with how this turned out. For the first time, it seems the scanner hasn’t made a crap of things. I’m pleased about the shading too. :) However, I might work on it a tad more to see if there’s any way of perking it up.
I WANT HER HAT."

"A piece of Grim Fandango art I drew some time ago. I loathe the colouring, but other than that I think it's okay." |

A very nice painting of Manny from Year 2
Thanks to Randy for sending this in on Eric's behalf |

"My gift to vampirenaomi for being so supportive and encouraging of my GF fanfics.
I imagined Domino Hurley from Grim Fandango to look something like this when he was alive... and in anime style. ^-^ Enjoy! I hope I’ve reached expectations, my fellow GF fans. ;) Be honest. I’d like to know what others imagined him to look like, too.
Time for ranting! Unfortunately, my drawing abilities won’t allow me to re-create the sexy image I have of him in my mind. His head is too big, and his hands are too small (he’s wearing black gloves, by the way). As usual, my psycho scanner made the colours brighter than they are on paper, but I must say this is the best result so far. x_@ I was able to reconfigure some settings to make it look a bit darker. Meh, just don’t mention anything about the brightness of his jade suit, because I know already. _ _;"

"When I found a tutorial on how to create hidden images, I decided to make some for my favourite game ;). You need Internet Explorer to see the images properly. And you may have to fiddle with the settings on your monitor too. So see if you can spot the hidden image. A thumbnail would be rather pointless, so here are text links to the pictures:

I also wrote a tutorial on how to make your own, which can be found here." |
